An exhibition in May 2024 showcased the history of Millbridge Brook Meadows, and the land on which it was built. The exhibition featured images from the opening in 2014, as far back as the 1910s and an enlarged Ordnance Survey map from 1887, super-imposed with new features like the meadows, Gamlingay Village Primary and modern shops.
Gamlingay councillor and South Cambridgeshire District Council leader Bridget Smith was among visitors to an exhibition showing how the meadows emerged from their farming past in the 2010s.
Cllr. Smith said the meadows had come into their own during the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns. “COVID showed us that the people who did best were those who had access to open spaces, to greenery, to nature. Our parish council understands that and hopefully parish councillors to come will understand the importance of it.”
A photo book of the exhibition is being prepared and will be published later in 2024.
