Sam Martin
Sam joined the Parish Council in May 2017 and was Chair of the Council from September 2022 to May 2025. A trained musician and passionate advocate for creative and cultural learning for children and young people, Sam works for Arts Council England and manages the multi-million pound Music Hub Programme, funded by the Department for Education. Sam moved to Gamlingay in 2014 and lives with her husband, daughters and two dogs. She believes in the importance of our village maintaining a range of facilities for all of its residents, and works hard to build relationships with the different councils and other agencies, to make sure this happens. In her spare time, Sam plays the flute with several ensembles in Cambridge and London

Adrian was co-opted to join the Parish Council in September 2018 and elected May 2026
Wendy Boyne – Chair elected May 2025 and 2026
Originally from North London Wendy moved to Gamlingay in 2007 and has been a Councillor since 2019. She was a police officer with the Metropolitan Police until her retirement in 2018, but still maintains links with policing and crime prevention by being the co-ordinator for Plane Tree Close and Elizabeth Way Neighbourhood Watch. She originally joined the Parish Council as she wanted to actively make a difference to where she lives and has developed a keen interest in planning regulations since joining the planning committee. Wendy enjoys being involved in village life and her hobbies include photography, equestrianism, walking and being an active member of the Gamlingay Community Choir

Andrew joined the Parish council early 2024 to get an insight into village issues and do what he could to help residents. He worked in information technology for many years before joining the Police late in life working in incident response and CID.He moved to the village with his wife in October 2021 and you may have met him when he was working in the local Coop before he fully retired in June 2024. Andrew is a keen gardener and DIY enthusiast.

Neil Medlock – co-opted May 2025, elected May 2026
Neil has lived in Gamlingay for over 25 years. Most of that time was spent working in London in the financial services / risk management business. Having now retired from full-time employment, he is pleased to be able to become more involved in the village community.

In between elections vacancies sometimes occur in which case Council may co-opt a candidate.
Co-option
The council chooses someone to fill a vacancy if insufficient candidates are proposed for seats at an election. An ordinary election occurs every four years but there may be an election when a seat falls vacant at other times.
In addition, if a vacancy occurs between elections (for example, by the resignation of a councillor), the council must generally publicly notify the vacancy and if no poll is claimed co-opt.
It is better for democracy if councillors are elected rather than relying on co-option, so they can be confident that the council is the community’s choice of representatives.
